Introducing The Original Thermal Rescue Space Poncho
Ponchos for Africa and its sister company,
Sports marketing have been manufacturing and marketing
standard promotional PVC Ponchos for over two decades at a plant based in
Durban South Africa.
While looking for new products, a concept was developed around
so-called space fabrics.such as metalized PET and BOPP.
These fabrics were developed by NASA for the protection of the Space Shuttle
Crews. Trials we did using variations of these products have proved
successful and the response from interested parties
has been overwhelming.
As the name, THE ORIGINAL SPACE PONCHO ® suggests, this is a world first, as this product, in this material, has never been seen before. Sometimes known as a thermal emergency rescue blanket, the potential for the product is vast.
The Original Space Poncho is a standard poncho design incorporating a hood.
It is made from a laminate of metalized PET and linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE).
While the space poncho is not totally seen as a replacement for a space blanket,
it is certainly complimentary and in most circumstances superior.
The Space Poncho is intended for use in shock trauma situations
as well as exposure to cold weather conditions. Some motor manufacturers and suppliers of emergency vehicle medical kits are now including the thermal poncho to replace the thermal rescue space blanket.
" Keep warm. Keep dry " - these are key elements whenever
trauma or severe weather occurs and where
there is danger of systemic hypothermia in the patient.
The Space Poncho will not only ensure that this protection is afforded, but also allows for freedom of movement
and flexibility as opposed to a thermal rescue space blanket.
Having a built in hood means that protection is also offered to the head and neck. This garment is designed as a one tripper emergency alternative to the thermal rescue space blanket.
